Volunteer Opportunities at Quincy Children’s Museum

Join the QCM volunteer team and help create a fun, safe, and inspiring space for children and families to learn and play together! We offer opportunities for youth, students, and adults to get involved in meaningful ways—whether you’re looking to build leadership skills, earn service hours, or give back to your community.

Kid Council (Ages 10–14)

The Kid Council is a unique volunteer opportunity for youth to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and make a difference at the museum!

Kid Council members will:

• Engage with museum visitors and families
• Lead hands-on programs and activities
• Support staff with cleaning, organizing, and exhibit upkeep
• Assist with special events and celebrations

This is a fun and rewarding way to gain experience in community service, education, and leadership. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and orientation trainings are held every other month. Kid Council Volunteers are expected to spend at least two hours/month supporting Kid Council initiatives.

Service Hour Opportunities (Ages 14–22)

Need service hours for school, college, or a club? QCM offers flexible volunteer opportunities perfect for high school and college students.

Volunteers can:

• Assist with special events and museum programs
• Help with organizing, cleaning, and prepping materials
• Support exhibit activities and interact with young visitors
• Contribute behind the scenes with project setup and support

Opportunities are available year-round, and we’re happy to provide verification for your hours.

Adult Volunteer Opportunities (Age 18+)

Whether you want to volunteer regularly or just once in a while, QCM has a place for you!

We’re currently seeking:

• Ongoing Support Volunteers: Commit to one morning per week or every other week for a 2–3 hour shift to assist with front desk support, exhibit upkeep, and visitor engagement.
• One-Time Program Support: Help with events, holiday programs, or weekend activities—perfect for those with limited availability.
• Guest Instructors: Teach a one-time class or workshop in your area of expertise (e.g., art, science, music).
• Deep Clean Day Helpers: Join our team for occasional deep-cleaning days to help keep the museum sparkling and safe.
• Corporate Volunteer Days: Plug your business in for an hour, afternoon, or day of service with the museum!

All adult volunteers receive orientation and are matched with roles based on their interests and availability, a background check will be completed if you are volunteering in the museum while children and families are present.
